A new journey has begun for Gloria Patri Delcambre, also known as Meine Schatzi “My Sweeteheart” by her beloved husband John ‘Clifton Delcambre’ of 6214 Lindy Ln. This journey began Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 7:30 PM in her loving home, when she was called up by her Heavenly Father to meet Him in that secret place where she will abide with Him. Her loving family surrounded her when the call to grace came.

She was born the first of three, to Iris Caroline Alexander Bayard and Gyles Bayard, Sr.. Gloria, her sister Elizabeth “Liz” Bayard Castille and her brother Gyles Bayard, Jr. grew up in New Iberia, LA. They enjoyed a good full life as Christians where her father was one of the founding fathers of the New Iberia divisions of the First Presbyterian Church. Gloria was gifted with a beautiful soprano voice that she blessed her daughters with as well. They sang together in the church choir beginning from the age of ten. Her favorite song was Amazing Grace that we often sang together, wherever we were.

Gloria grew up in this small town knowing this one young man, fell in love, and married Clifton Delcambre September 1, 1953. Her cousin Violet remembers well, how she helped her in making her wedding dress, getting the flowers and made the bouquets for the wedding. This love was so great that they were blessed with six children, ‘Rachel Leah, Clifton John, Faith Iris, Miriam Effie, Sylvia Elizabeth and Jesse Ivey’. They were raised in the love of the Lord and great compassion for the way of their Heavenly Father. Clifton and Gloria made the way of the Lord, their refuge and their habitation. They loved with a great love for 63 years.

Gloria was blessed with a great gift in the way of the arts. She enjoyed sharing her gift of painting in watercolor, oil and acrylics not only with her children but also teaching the students at the First Presbyterian Church.

Violet Patout brought Gloria into the New Iberia Garden Club. Gloria and her cousins Violet and Charlotte made books and created covers for books with their art skills. They also attended regional meetings together when Gloria was elected President. Eventually she created another garden club and became regional director. They did the same in L’Acadian Art Club. She also participated as director of the Arts division of the Sugarcane Festive Art Show for many years.”She actively participated in both of these clubs and nothing was too much for her. As a little girl we played together, especially in the summer and school holidays and always the Christmas holidays. She was a beauty queen even then. She and Clifton were two beautiful people who had some of the most beautiful children I have ever seen. I admire them. So sweet and so wonderful.” Violet Patout

Clifton and Gloria were members of the Shell Pensioners Club also, where she also actively participated. Gloria also was a judge with the Cleanest City Contest in New Iberia.

She is survived by her husband, Clifton Delcambre of New Iberia; her children, Rachel D. Foley and her husband Louie of Erath, Clifton J. Delcambre, Jr. of New Iberia, Faith D. Brasseaux and her husband Allen, Miriam D. Gould all of Youngsville, Sylvia Delcambre of New Iberia and Jesse Delcambre and his wife Teresa of Commerce, TX; her brother, Gyles Bayard of Brighton, FL; her grandchildren, Brianne Foley, Heidi Foley, Priscilla Picard, Alexis Delcambre, Christian Brasseaux, Samuel Brasseaux, Shyra Brasseaux, Nicole Broussard, Kyle Minvielle, Gwendolyn Minvielle, Stacey Hurley, Alaura Delcambre and Ethan Delcambre and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gyles Bayard, Sr.; her mother, Iris Alexander Bayard; her sister, Elizabeth “Liz” “Tutty” Castille; her grandson, Ian Allen Brasseaux; her great grandchild, Tanner Theis and her nephew, Billy Castille.
